Getting started

The screen layout, the account menu, your first causal discovery in five steps, and the privacy question you see on your first visit.

Do this first

  1. Sign in. You land on the Overview. An organization administrator lands on the admin panel instead; the workspace described here is at /app/dashboard.
  2. Open Causal Inference in the navigation on the left and pick a mode: Technical shows every control, Executive a guided three-step version. You can switch later.
  3. On the Data tab, upload a CSV file of numbers (one column per variable, one row per observation) and give it a name. See Data tab.
  4. On the Discovery tab, pick the dataset and an algorithm and select Run Causal Inference. See How a causal run works.
  5. Read the graph, then use the Reasoning tab to ask what affects what. See Reasoning tab.

The Overview page after signing in: the header across the top, the navigation on the left, and the page in the middle
  • Header. The UCMT Labs logo, the theme switch (moon or sun) and your initials, which open the account menu.
  • Navigation (left). Overview, Causal Inference, Billing, Settings and Help. Collapse at the bottom narrows it to icons. Only the parts of the product that are switched on in this release are listed.
  • Page. The screen you opened. Each main screen has a Help link at its top right that opens the matching part of this guide.
  • There is no chat assistant in this release; Help in the navigation searches this guide.

The account menu

Select your initials at the top right.

The account menu open: name and e-mail address, then Settings, Billing, Help and Sign Out

It shows your name and e-mail address and links to Settings, Billing and Help. An organization administrator also sees Admin Panel. Sign Out ends the session on this browser.

On a phone

Below tablet width the navigation is behind the menu button at the top left, and the theme switch moves into the account menu.

On your first visit a banner at the bottom of the page asks about optional tracking: product analytics and session replay. Nothing optional runs until you answer.

The privacy banner: "Your privacy choices" with Privacy policy, Customize, Reject all and Accept all
  • Reject all turns both off. Accept all turns both on. Customize lets you choose each one.
  • Signed in, your answer is saved to your account, so you are not asked again on another browser.
  • You can change it at any time in Settings → Privacy (see Privacy and your data) or with Privacy choices in the footer of the public site.

Getting help on a screen

  • The Help link at the top right of a screen opens this guide at the matching section.
  • On the Causal Inference page, the round ? button next to it opens a short guide for the tab you are on. That guide describes general practice; where it and this Help Centre differ, this Help Centre describes what this release does.
